2016 Phoenix Undy Run/Walk
In July 2012, our sister and friend, Kathleen was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer at the age of 49. Since diagnosis she endured chemotherapy every two weeks, which consisted of a 3 hour drip in the office and a take home pump for 48 hours straight, she did this for 16 months! On January 2, 2014 she underwent a 12-hour HIPEC surgery, followed by multiple complications and 2 additional surgeries. She spent over 50 days in the Mayo Clinic Hospital. The diseased progressed in June 2014 and Kathleen participated in a clinical trial. Sadly, the disease continued to progress while she took the clinical trial chemotheraphy drug.
On October 3, 2014, colon cancer took Kathleen from us. We are devastated and heartbroken. We continue to support the CCA and the Undy Run/Walk because we don't want any other family to suffer a loss like ours.
If you met Kathleen, your life has been blessed and made better.
She will always be our hero! Her journey has already saved her brother's life.
Our family and friends will be participating in the 2016 Phoenix Undy Run/Walk on Saturday, October 22nd, at the State Capitol District. We take part in the Undy Run/Walk to raise awareness and funds for research, and most importantly help find a cure for this disease. According to the American Cancer Society, colon cancer is the second highest cause of cancer deaths in the United States.
If you are over 50, have a family history of colon cancer, or are having symptoms.... PLEASE GET SCREENED!
Please support our involvement in the Undy Run/Walk with a tax-deductible donation. Your support will help us prevent colorectal cancer and save lives.
Everyone is welcome to join our team to walk or run on Saturday.
