On January 23, 2012 our lives changed forever when my husband, Richard, was diagnosed with Colon Cancer only a week after his 31st birthday. The next several weeks were a blur of doctors’ appointments, scans, tests and ultimately the diagnoses of Stage 4 Colon Cancer. Over the next few years Rich fought for his life while continuing to be an amazing husband, loving father to our two young sons, son, brother, uncle, friend and Deloitte professional.
We also quickly became involved with the Colon Cancer Alliance (Chris4Life) finding support from others who truly understood the struggles that we were facing. Not only did they provide us with a new group of friends who helped us maneuver our way through the world of cancer treatment they gave us hope for a better future.
Rich passed away on October 27, 2014 and CCA continued to support me and our sons. The funds raised through this race help to support other families such as ours fighting this horrible disease, fund research towards a cure and raise awareness that a simple colonoscopy can prevent, detect and cure colon cancer.
This will be the 5th year we have a team in honor/memory of Rich, the incredible man he was and the legacy he left behind. Please consider joining us for the race and/or donating in Richard's memory.
