I am participating in this fundraiser because colon cancer has affected me personally. In 2015, I lost my good friend and mentor Tom Reynolds at the young age of 40. This annual fundraiser is one way I celebrate his life!
Colon cancer has been in the news lately because rates are spiking among young adults, just like Tom. (http://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2017/02/28/517563769/why-are-more-young-americans-getting-colon-cancer). So while getting screened at 50 is critical, something is happening to younger people. One thing Colon Cancer Alliance is already doing is the "Never Too Young Coalition" which takes on young-onset colorectal cancer through action, education, and research.
Please support my involvement in Scope It Out with a tax-deductible donation. Your support will help us end colorectal cancer and save lives.
Or even better, join the team by clicking the "Join Team" button! The event is March 19th 2017 in Washington, DC.
