Those of you that know me know my story, but if you just happened to find yourself on this page....
My husband, Ken, was diagnosed with Stage IIIc colon cancer on August 5, 2010. He was 38 years old and had no family history of colon cancer. He received chemotherapy for 6 months, after which we were told there was no evidence of disease (NED). On May 1, 2012, we learned that his cancer had returned with a vengence. The cancer was no longer in his colon, but there was a mass in his liver and, as it was wrapped 3/4ths the way around the portal vein, it was inoperable. Ken spent the next 2 years trying several different chemotherapy treatments to no avail. Ken always promised me he would do chemo and fight this disease so long as his quality of life was not affected; on May 16, 2014, Ken made the decision to stop treatments; he could take no more. His health continued to decline over that summer and on Sunday, September 14, 2014, at 2:17pm, at the age of 42, Ken passed away in our home, surrounded by family and loved ones.
I still love and miss him desperately!
