2013 Dress in Blue Day

COLONTOWN MN & CARS (colon, anal, rectal support)

Thank you for visiting our team page!

Did you know that colorectal cancer is the second leading cancer killer of men & women, second only to lung cancer?  We are going BLUE to raise awareness in the way pink has done for breast cancer.  Colorectal cancer is one of only two preventable cancers (cervical is the other).  Screening (colonoscopy) can remove polyps BEFORE they grow into tumors, rather than only detecting cancer already present.  Please educate yourself about colorectal cancer and help spread the word.

We are a group from Minnesota who have been touched by colorectal cancer as patients, family, caregivers and medical professionals from two local support groups CARS Edina and CARS South/Burnsville, and an online FaceBook support group COLONTOWN.  Contact the team captain if you live in MN and want more information on our local support. During National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month this March, our team will be raising funds, promoting awareness and honoring those affected by colon cancer.  We are also working on promoting awareness in our state.  Our Team Captain got Governor Dayton to sign a Proclamation for March as Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month last year and plans to do so again.  We are also working on getting the State Capitol and two bridges lit up BLUE.

Please join my team or make a contribution today. Your support of National Dress in Blue Day will benefit the CCA?s mission and their screening, patient support and research programs and help bring us one step closer a to future free of colon cancer.
