Sell raffle
tickets to faculty and staff. Prizes could be a gift card donated
by a local restaurant, a t-shirt purchased from the Colon Cancer Alliance's online store or an extra vacation day.
Talk to a local
restaurant about holding a profit share night. Ask for 15% of
the night’s profits and promote the event at school. Mail in the donations
with a completed Dress in Blue Day fundraising
form. Be sure to add your event to the CCA’s Blue Star
Calendar.
Put together
a blue costume contest to see who can be the most
creative! You may charge a $10 fee to enter the contest or collect
donations as votes (for example: $5 = 1 vote). Contestants must wear blue
to be eligible. Purchase a t-shirt from the Colon Cancer Alliance's online store to award the best costume. Take a picture, and send it to us!
Hold a lunch
& learn for faculty and staff. Invite a local
gastroenterologist to speak briefly (20 minutes) about colon cancer and
screening methods or give your own presentation using our Colon
Cancer Awareness Speaker Kit. Asking a staff member who has a personal
connection to colon cancer to speak could also be helpful, when possible.
Afterwards, play colon cancer trivia and award prizes to the employees who
remember what they learned. Talk to Human Resources about promoting the
event and possibly providing lunch for employees who attend.
Ask everyone
wearing blue (denim counts) to your school’s sporting event (football,
baseball, basketball) to donate an extra $5 for colon cancer patients and
give them a Dress in Blue Day sticker for
their contribution.
Ask your
school’s art club or art classes to design artwork and
advertisements for Dress in Blue Day to post around the
school and promote awareness. Purchase buttons to give to the artists as a thank you. Take a picture, and send it to us.
Host a car
wash. Make sure everyone wears blue. Fill out a Dress in Blue
Day fundraising form and send in the money you
raised. Again, be sure to add your event to the CCA’s Blue Star
Calendar.
Create an online fundraising team among the faculty to raise awareness and funds for Dress in Blue Day. Each person can easily get involved by giving a donation, sending emails to friends and family and/or spreading the team's message on social media.
