Get Involved - With Friends and Family
- Email your friends and family telling them about colon cancer, Dress in Blue Day and why this cause is important to you. Use our sample email text.
- Hold a yard sale and donate all the profits to Dress in Blue Day. Mail in the donations with a completed Dress in Blue Day fundraising form.
- Provide a service like babysitting or weeding a garden to your friends and neighbors in exchange for a donation to Dress in Blue Day.
- Organize a coffee fast. For every day someone goes without coffee, ask them to donate the money they would have spent on the purchase ($3-5). Create a chart showing everyone’s progress to spark a bit of competition. Encourage everyone to go one to two weeks.
- Plan a Dress in Blue Day event for your place of worship. You can put a notice in the bulletin, hold an educational session and distribute Dress in Blue Day stickers and fact sheets. Make sure to ask for a donation to help patients in need! Also, be sure to add your event to the CCA’s Blue Star Calendar.
- Organize a Dress in Blue Day team to participate in a local walk, run or sports tournament. Of course, have your team wear blue and send us a picture! You can find colon cancer awareness apparel on the Colon Cancer Alliance's online store.
- Use any occasion to raise funds for Dress in Blue Day to help patients in need. Events can include: birthdays, bake sales, talent shows, etc.
- Create an online fundraising page to raise awareness and funds for Dress in Blue Day. Through a personal or team page, people easily get involved by giving a donation, sending emails to friends and family and/or spreading the team's message on social media.
Proceeds raised through National Dress In Blue Day™ fundraising efforts will benefit
the Colon Cancer Alliance's mission and screening, patient support and research programs.
