New Resources & Campaign Address Rise in Young CRC
We’ve met hundreds of young colon cancer patients, survivors and caregivers. In fact, at last year’s National Conference, we focused solely on this issue. We heard your stories, talked with the experts and now we’ve taken action to find answers.
We joined with a group of renowned researchers to answer the question: what’s with all of these young cases of colon cancer? Now, we’re launching this campaign to spell it out: you’re never tooy oung for colon cancer.
Learn the newfound trends, hear from the people we’ve met and find out how you can help incite change at www.nevertooyoung.org.
Have You Read Katie Couric’s Latest Blog?
When it comes to demystifying colon cancer and the
surrounding issues, does anyone do it better than Katie Couric? Earlier this month, The New York Times launched a series on the high cost of medical care in the US, citing colonoscopy as an example. But the article left out that this test saves many lives. Jasmine
Greenamyer, our Interim CEO, gives her
take on Katie’s recent op-ed piece in The Huffington Post.

We’re Giving an A+ to this Third
Grader’s Persuasive Letter
“[My friend Hannah’s]
mom was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. Her family wasn’t sure if she
would make it through Christmas. But Santa answered Hannah’s wishes, right now
her mom has beat the cancer.”
Third-grader Maggie Hall is one of our youngest ambassadors
yet! In support of her friend’s mom, she wrote this persuasive letter to her
class, asking them to make a donation to help fight colon cancer. Check
out Maggie's letter - we couldn't have said it better ourselves.
We’re Here for You – and Only a Phone Call Away
Helena, pictured here with her husband, is one of our
frequent Helpline callers. Although this 79-year-old continues to battle colon
cancer recurrences, through her regular chats with Randy from our Patient
Support staff, she's found an overwhelming peace of mind. Helena's signature
sign-off? "Thank you, my sweet!"
You’re not alone. If you're in need of a listening ear, call

Hero of the Month
Our Hero of the Month features inspiring individuals who are going above and beyond in the fight against colon cancer. This month we are honoring Yolanda Austin, a St. Louis native who made it her mission to raise awareness after losing her best friend, Bonita, to colon cancer.
“Spreading awareness is now my calling. Bonita spoke it before she died and I see it coming
together. She was an example of one who procrastinated and waited too long. And that’s what I tell
people now: take the time to get the colonoscopy.”
Yolanda’s overwhelming and inspirational dedication to spreading awareness fills a void left
by her best girlfriend’s passing.
Learn about Yolanda’s mission and what she’s doing to make it happen.
